To Support Growth of Photovoltaic Investment Under NY-Sun
Solarize Program Offers Limited-Time Discounts to Local Residents;
Kick-Off Workshop to Take Place on August 1, 2015
The Towns of Covert, Lodi, Ovid and Romulus in Seneca County will take part in Community Solar NY, a program that will make investing in solar power easier and more affordable for local residents and businesses.
The Solar Seneca campaign will kick off with a workshop on August 1, 2015, Saturday @ 6:30 pm at the Finger Lakes Cider House, 4017 Hickok Road, Interlaken, NY 14847 where residents and business owners can learn about the program. The event is free and open to all.
Light fare & beverages will be available.
Community Solar NY makes implementing solar easier and more affordable by supporting locally-organized community outreach aimed at getting a critical mass of area homes and businesses to install solar and obtain competitive pricing, thereby lowering the cost. Historically, Solarize campaigns lower the cost of solar 10 to 20 percent.
After a thorough pre-qualification process, Solar Seneca has selected Halco Energy and Taitem Engineering as the designated solar installers for Solar Seneca. Residents and businesses who sign a contract for solar installations by November 30, 2015 will be able to take advantage of group rates below market prices.
Solar Seneca is receiving support from NY-Sun, Governor Cuomo’s $1 billion initiative to advance the scale-up of solar and move the state closer to having a sustainable, self-sufficient solar industry.
“What's the answer to our energy needs? There is no simple answer, BUT we can do things to slow down and reduce our usage of the earth's fossil fuel resources. Almost all of the energy on our planet came from the sun and still does.” Gary Hunt, Town of Covert Councilman
